Remember Her

Since what happened yesterday I'd thought I share this essay with you.

Remember Her

I imagine I am a girl in a land where war still lives.  I walk to school in silence.  Far away I hear the sound of a bomb, I shudder a bit but I've gotten used to it now and I don't jump like before.  As I reach school I silently pray that I will be able to return home and have a home to return to.  As my day at school progresses I worry that the people who have been bombing our city will choose to bomb our school today.  When school is out I walk silently home.  I hear another bomb and start walking faster to reach my home.  I enter my home and say hello to my parents.  I hear one more bomb closer this time.  I finally go to bed and hope that there will still be a tomorrow for me, a tomorrow for all of us.  I change back into myself and compare my life to her's.  While my greatest worry is finishing an assignment or getting good marks on a test, the worries of people like her are that their house might get bombed or a family member shot.  Remember people like her who are affected by wars everyday.  Remember her.

The Play of Four Seasons

This is a play I wrote last year but my mom still loves it!

Spring:I am spring, beautiful and fresh.

Summer: I am summer, hot and bright.

Autumn: I am autumn, scarlet and gold.

Winter: I am winter, brave and cold.

All: We are the four seasons
and we fight for the right to rule the year!

Winter: I should be ruler because
I have snow that is pretty and fun.

Summer: Winter you!  You can't be ruler because
 you make the children cold.
I should be ruler because I make the children play and laugh.

Autumn: But Summer you make the children burn!
My crisp autumn days are just right.

Spring: But Autumn you don't have flowers or green things for the delight of the people.  These thing I have.

Winter: People don't need flowers, they like my snowflakes.

Summer: But your snowflakes are chilly.

Autumn: Stop this fighting! I have an idea.  We can each have a bit of the year to rule.  It can go like this: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Winter: But that's not fair!  Why do I have to be last?

Spring: You're right Winter it's not fair so I will give you a bit of spring to snow in.

Autumn: That's a good idea Spring.  Winter can snow in a bit of Autumn too.

Winter: Thank you Spring and Autumn, I am now content.

All: And that was how the four seasons came to be.

Thanks for reading this.(I know it's a bit long.)

The Gifts

The danger is over,
You open your door,
And in come all the things,
You wish for.
Joy and Happiness,
Friendship and love,
Life and Hope.
Your fire may be out,
You may be cold,
But all your gifts will hold on to you.
It may be snowing,
You may be hungry,
But don't worry,
Your gifts are with you,
And will always be.
The danger is over,
You open your door,
And in come all the things,
You wish for.

Just a little feel good song if you're hungry or cold.

Review of Warrior Scarlet by Rosemary Sutcliff

Warrior Scarlet was a good book but at some parts a bit hard to understand.  Another problem I had with it was that it was a different year each chapter but it was hard to understand that it skipped.  It was an interesting read and was good in most of the parts.  It is historical fiction and is about a young boy who is born into a warrior tribe with a crippled arm. He must face the test to become a warrior, killing a wolf single-handed. Drem (the boy) learns to except and embrace himself even with all his differences.
Thanks for reading my review.

Review on Whispers of War by Kit Pearson

Whispers of War is a great book written like a diary. It follows the story of a fictional 11 year old girl in the middle of the war of 1812.  A great story with a lot of cries and laughs.  A story about a young girl in the middle of a wars faces personal problems as well as dealing with the war.  These are just some of the statements that I could say about this book. A must read for anyone who is interested in historical fiction.

Journals: A Great Way of Writing

Journal, diaries, Idea books: they are all the same thing.
A place where you can write your ideas and feelings down,a place where you can be yourself.  Personally I keep a diary where I write everything from my ideas to what happened that day. If you are just starting a diary/journal you most likely feel like quitting sometimes.  Trust me I know how that feels and I have some advice: If you don't feel like writing one night don't because you most likely don't have anything to say. If you force yourself to write every night it might become something like a chore you hate doing.  This year my summer was very boring and I remember skipping weeks at a time. But my fall has been more exciting and I've been writing almost every night.  Also remember you can be yourself in your diary because NO ONE should look at it without you saying so.   I'd say try a diary out because it's a great way to enjoy writing.

(You don't have keep doing it if you don't like writing, it is up to you.)

Whispers of Winter: a winter poem

The bubbling brook has yet to freeze over,
But yes,winter is here,
The snow whispering in the night air proves it,
The icicles dripping from the roof assures it,
The animals bounding to their dens call it,
Winter is finally here,
The bubbling brook has yet to freeze over,
But yes,Winter is here.

This poem is a bit more, shall we say, relevant then my poem about robins. Ha Ha!

Pen-Pals:A Good Way of Practicing Reading and Writing.

Writing letters is one of my favorite way to contact people, and also a great way to practice reading and writing.  If your lucky enough to get into a pen-pal group I'd say go ahead and do it.If not birthday or holiday cards or even just friendly letter s to a friend or family member will give you the excitement and experience of writing a letter. So try and find a pen-pal group if your interested in writing letters and if not just write a friendly letter!
Hope this inspired every one to get writing!!!

The Robin's Flight

On silent wings,
Ruffled with wind,
The robin comes back,
Back to it's home and beloved forest,
The bird's flight almost ended,
Soon the robin can rest,
And people everywhere,
Will exclaim in excitement,
When they see the robin's red vest,
For robins mark spring,
And everyone's excited,
For spring is almost here.

I like that poem, it's my favorite out of the poems I wrote.(not very relevant though this time of year.)

Review of Whisperings of Magic

Whisperings of Magic by Karleen Bradford is a excellent book.
It is definitely fantasy and has very strong characters.
It is a sequel to the book DragonFire but I read this book without reading DragonFire and I understood everything fine.  I would give this a try if your a fantasy fan.
Thanks for reading my review!

Jays

Beautiful blue jays,
Suddenly a sweep of wings,
And a loud, harsh cry.
